Easiest Trends Ever: Harem Pants

Harem PantsEver wish you could just wear your pajama pants out in public? Well now you can. The recent comeback of the harem pant presents us with one of the easiest, most comfortable styles, while still looking trendy and put-together. If you can get past the first few “you look like MC Hammer” jabs (they’re just jealous), you can pull off parachute pants with ease. Note: boys often do not and will not understand these pants; perhaps don’t wear them on a first (or second) date.

My favorite thing about harem pants is how versatile they can be. You can throw them on in the morning to run around town, then seamlessly transition them into the night for dinner and drinks with your friends. I was just given a beautiful pair of harem pants from a friend who visited Spain, and the next day I literally did not take them off. For a daytime look, I wore them with a loose, cropped tee, simple sandals, and minimal jewelry. For a more appropriate nighttime outfit, I paired the pants with a fitted black tee, wedges, and gold jewelry. It’s that easy!

If you’re ready to sport this simple, breezy look, but don’t know how, I’m here to help. If you’re going for a more polished look, tuck a fitted top or silky blouse into the pants and pair them with heels. If you’re going for trendy street chic, tuck the pants into combat boots, couple with a complementary pattern (bonus: print mixing!), or wear with a bustier, bralette, or black tank. If you’re simply going on a coffee run, you can pair harem pants with cropped tees, untucked tanks, off-the-shoulder sweaters — the possibilities are endless. I’ve assembled some sample outfits to fit whatever mood or occasion of your choice. Eat your heart out, Princess Jasmine.
