Santa Baby

One of my favorite things about the holidays (and there are many) is holiday party attire. You just can’t get more fun and festive! This Marchesa Notte gown from Rent the Runway pretty much took my breath away when I saw it. From the luxe hue to the intricate illusion neckline, I cannot get enough. I’m not even a big hi-low hem fan, but with the fabric and the movement of this dress, I can’t even be mad at it.

Behind the scenes ~exclusive~ sidenote: I took these photos on the absolute coldest day so far in DC (the high was 29!). Can’t you tell by my slightly pained expressions? Haha! People were looking at me like I was nuts, and I’m pretty sure I had mild frostbite in my toes. But anything for the picture, right y’all?? #worthit

S’more Dandy

Remember my fun Friendsgiving post from the other week? Today I’m back for more with the second lookbook shoot with Dandy Boutique. This campfire-inspired shoot, complete with s’mores, featured some more of Dandy’s cozy, trendy pieces that we all got to style ourselves. Just like the first lookbook shoot, Rutledge Social did all of the coordinating and styling, 428 Main provided the fabulous vintage rentals, and Catherine Ann Photography once again outdid herself with the most beautiful photos. Seriously y’all, I was the last one to shoot my outfit for the second look and we were kind of running out of cool backdrops, so Katie had me stand by a baby evergreen tree next to a 5 foot wide section of fence. Although it didn’t look very impressive in person, Katie’s UNEDITED photos ended up looking like I was at a freaking Christmas tree farm straight out of an LL Bean catalogue. She’s seriously talented, y’all.

For my outfit, I went with a casual meets urban look which I absolutely loved. I was obsessed with this geo print jacket (slash still am) and based my whole look around it. I paired it with a tres chic sweater, ankle zip skinnies, black flats with heart details (!), and oversized cat-eye sunnies. To top it off, I threw on a gold chain and went with purple lips to amp up the “city” vibe of the ensemble. Best part of it all? My mom told me I look like my Granny in these photos 🙂 Take a look below!

What To Wear On Memorial Day {& Holiday Sales!}

It’s Memorial Day weekend, y’all — the unofficial beginning of summer, a time to thank our troops, a well-deserved day off, an excuse to day drink…. Whatever Mem Day means to you, picking out your outfits for the holiday weekend can always be a struggle. It can be tough to find something patriotic (but not too patriotic, the goal here isn’t to look like Uncle Sam), yet still effortlessly chic. So whether you’re attending your family’s annual Memorial Day cookout, day drinking at a bar or backyard with your peeps, or attending a pool party, I’m here to help with a little styling inspo. Have your own outfit ideas but just want to know about the holiday weekend sales? Skip to the bottom.

Family BBQ
This look is perfect for a cookout with your fam — a star-spangled chambray shirt, white skinnies, and demi wedge sandals. Top it off with some all-American shades (aviators are patriotic, right?), a coral collar necklace, a simple crossbody bag, and Essie’s ‘Lollipop.’ Now all you need is a hot dog, watermelon, potato salad, fried chicken, ice cold beer — wait, what were we talking about again?

Day Drinking with Pals
Although a little more low-key, this look is still super cute for a day of drinking with your friends. From the front, this ruby red romper looks very caz (cas? cahz? caj?), but from the back, you have an adorable bow and cutout situation happening. It’s a true “business in the front, party in the back” scenario, but a lot less chic than a mullet. Pair this playsuit with cognac gladiator sandals, tortoiseshell cat-eye sunnies, gold starfish studs, some midi rings, a gold chevron clutch, and you’re good to go. Finish off the look with bright white nails — one of my summer faves.

Pool Party
Last but not least, you might be attending a Mem Day pool party this weekend where you are probably expected to wear your bathing suit. If you’re anything like me, your bikini bod might not be exactly ready for its debut quite yet (as I polish off a sandwich bigger than my head). A great solution to this little issue is high-waisted cutoffs — they do a great job hiding your holiday burger belly while still looking chic. To finish off the look, I chose a red and white gingham bathing suit top (how cute are those little strawberries?!), white sandals, round retro sunglasses, and a red pout.

Steal of the Week: Cobalt Cords

This SOTW, printed cobalt cords from Old Navy, are now marked down to only $20! Y’all know how much I love cobalt, so imagine my excitement when I found these skinnies on sale. Floral print has been huge this fall, and the fact that they’re corduroy make them easily transition into the cooler months. Get yourself a pair here.

To ensure the winter vibe, I chose a very cozy outfit (see below). First, I picked an oversized cable-knit sweater to pair with the pants. The neutral color of this sweater lets the pants do their thing while allowing for a little fun and creativity with accessories. To do this, I chose a snuggly plaid infinity scarf and cranberry flats. As for accessories, I opted for gold (what a surprise!) — some festive gold bows, a glittery gold watch, and a metallic gold clutch. Check out the look below!

Steal of the Week: Tube Scarf

This week’s steal, the tube scarf from H&M, is now marked down to a mere $6.45. Yep, you read that right. Originally priced at only $12.95, this soft angora blend infinity scarf comes in four fabulous fall colors. This incredible deal won’t last forever, so click here to buy a tube scarf of your own (or four).

If you don’t already have one, circle scarves are such a simple yet chic accessory — definitely a go-to when styling an outfit. Not to mention these four colors are ideal for fall fads — a plum hue, classic black, the perfect neutral, and trendy black + white. As if they couldn’t get any better, these unbelievably inexpensive scarves can be worn for either work or play.

The ensemble I put together, falling into the “play” category, just screams holiday party to me. Now that Halloween is over, I’m totally ready for Christmas (yes, I’m one of those people). I chose the plum scarf because you all know how obsessed I am with this autumn hue, and I adore a good pop of color. To start the outfit out, I picked the festive frock below — don’t you love the way this gold brocade sweater dress looks with the rich tone of the scarf? Me too. To add to the luxurious feel, as well as provide some extra warmth in the winter months, I added a faux fur vest to top it off. As for accessories, I chose simple black ankle boots, sparkly gold drop earrings, a gold bow ring, and an emerald crossbody bag. Does that bag look familiar? That’s because it was my SOTW a few weeks ago! Lastly, just slip into a pair of black tights and you’re ready to go.
