Bye Bye Summer

Nothing like bidding summer adieu in a little white dress! This cold shoulder eyelet number with delicate floral details has been a favorite all season, so it felt like the perfect piece to wear for LDW before it goes into hibernation for the cooler months.

For the rest of this look, I went full-on SUMMER. Panama hat, Cult Gaia bag, espadrilles, navy tassel earrings – the works. Gotta make good use of them before fall hits!

Hope everyone has a happy Labor Day!

At the top of my Asheville list was something I’ve wanted to do forever: visit the gorgeous¬†Biltmore Estate. In fact, I was so excited to go that it was the¬†very first stop on our trip¬†(even before checking in at the¬†hotel)! It was even more incredible than I thought, and I can’t wait to share all my favorite parts below.

Poncho: Loft¬†(now 50% off!) | Jeans: c/o DL1961 | Booties: Madewell (similar) | Clutch:¬†Clare V | Sunglasses:¬†Karen Walker¬†c/o¬†Ditto¬†(use code TOPKNOTS for your first month free!) | Necklace: Forever 21 |¬†Bangles: c/o Moon & Lola | Spike Bracelet:¬†Stella & Dot | Rings: H&M | Lips: NYX Matte Lipstick (‘Eden’) | Nails: OPI Gel (‘Malaga Wine’)

When I saw the mansion for the first time, it seriously took my breath away! The different levels, winding hallways, and endless rooms could have kept me busy all day long. Although history was always my least favorite subject in school, for some reason that was not the case at the Biltmore. You have the option to listen to an audio guide as you tour the estate, and this gal could not get enough.

Can we talk about this chandelier/spiral staircase combo? There is not one square foot of this place¬†that isn’t mesmerizingly intricate – I could have stared at the details for hours.

One of the reasons it took me so long to get to the Biltmore is because I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to go during fall or at Christmastime. Both are my favorite things ever, and both times of year are equally stunning there. Lucky for me, the Biltmore starts decorating for Christmas even earlier than I do (and my holiday season begins the day after Halloween, ha!), so I ended up getting to experience a little bit of both.

After making our way through the mansion, we went out and explored the gardens. The Conservatory was by far my favorite part, mostly because of the cactus room. It is literally a room filled with hundreds of succulents and cacti, which I’m pretty sure is every blogger’s dream!

Is anyone else¬†having major garden envy over this rainbow of mums? Currently my “garden” is a plant on the¬†fire escape that I’m struggling to keep alive, so I was pretty¬†into this situation.

Next it was off to Antler Hill Village & Winery, which was about a five minute drive through the¬†Biltmore grounds. I could not believe¬†how large¬†the whole estate is! The wine tasting was right up my alley because they don’t limit how many you can try – and their wine list is not small. I loved being able to taste¬†everything, from the Christmas blend (!) to the exclusive reserve wines.

When I asked my blogger bestie, Brittany of Southern Meets Chic, about her Biltmore highlights, one thing at the top of her list was The Barn. We both share an absurd love for animals, so she¬†gave me the essential pro tip that this stop on the map was not to be missed. Or in Britt’s¬†words, “they let you cuddle and love on the animals as much as you¬†want!” Which, of course, is exactly what I did.

Thanks so much to the Biltmore for having us! It was an unforgettable experience, and I’m sure it won’t be too long before I’m back. Most likely at Christmas. ‚̧

Oh Christmas Tree

TreeFarm-4

Picking out a Christmas tree Рis there anything better? This year we trekked out to Toogoodoo Tree Farm to do things the old-fashioned way, and it was too much fun. Get ready for some cheesiness below!

TreeFarm-12

Kind of similar to my Valentine’s Day shoot from earlier this year, I somehow convinced my sweetheart to hop in a few pics with me. Taking solo shots at a Christmas tree farm just feels wrong, and honestly Will is so cute¬†I can’t resist forcing him into a shoot every so often. Sue me, y’all.¬†Our truly insane (yet very photogenic) pup, Louie, even cooperated for a couple minutes, clearly taking his job very seriously. #modelbehavior

Since we were, after all, at a farm, I kept things casual with my outfit. A fair isle sweater, comfy legging jeans, vintage bean boots, and a fur pom hat. Details on both of our looks are below!

Giving Back with Betsy

IMG_6553

It’s no surprise how much I love the holiday season. The music, the movies, the shopping, the parties – and as I get older, I find myself loving¬†the feeling of giving more and more.¬†Whether it’s the perfect gift for my sisters or donating gifts/time/money to someone in need, it makes the holidays feel even more special. If you’re looking for a way to give back this season, I can help with that. I’m partnering up with one of my favorite jewelry designers,¬†Betsy Pittard Designs,¬†to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network¬†with her ‘B a Miracle’ campaign.¬†Learn more and donate here!

IMG_6562

IMG_6586

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals works to increase funds and awareness for local children’s hospitals. Your donations would¬†go¬†to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. B a Miracle this season and help save some lives!

IMG_6589

IMG_6557

For my post about Betsy’s fundraiser, I knew I had to rep her jewels, so I modeled my look around this fab Betsy Pittard horn necklace. I went with one of my favorite color combos for this time of year, plum and mustard, pairing a¬†pretty floral frock from Teal with my cozy longline Loft sweater. To top off the outfit, I¬†opted for some black boho accessories, a few gold rings, and of course, the¬†Betsy necklace.

November Neutrals

One thing that I cannot stop wearing this season is the poncho. Since they come in all¬†different colors, patterns, and fabrics, ponchos are one of the most versatile pieces of autumn – which means you need to get yourself one, like, yesterday. These dignified snuggies¬†also make for the ideal Thanksgiving look, which can be easily dressed up or down for first turkey day with the BF’s family, or homeless-chic Friendsgiving with pals. See, versatile!

TKPD-39

TKPD-44

TKPD-41

I picked up this poncho at Charleston’s newest gem, Apricot Lane. Y’all, this is not a drill – this store is the real deal. They have¬†such adorable, trendy pieces at the BEST¬†price point. As you may recall¬†if you follow me on¬†Facebook¬†or¬†Instagram,¬†I mentioned that I was¬†co-hosting an event with my girl Tara Belle¬†to welcome this sweet new shop to the neighborhood. It was impossible not to spend the whole event shopping for myself – oops! This poncho was one (of many) of my finds that night, and I’ve been wearing it nonstop ever since.

TKPD-48

TKPD-46

When it came to styling this cozy little number, I kept things relatively simple with a neutral color palette. Winter white skinnies (with major stretch for that Thanksgiving food baby), cognac booties, a knotted belt, and a grey v-neck tee were just about all this look needed. However, because we all know this chick can’t go minimal to save her life, I topped off the look with another statement piece – a snakeskin Taxidermy bag.¬†Local girls, stopping by the Taxidermy showroom on Spring is absolutely imperative. Everything is to-die, Amy is the bomb.com, and your Christmas list will make itself. Oh, and did I mention you can hold the same bag Beyonc√© has?

As for my jewels, I opted for silvery steel tones instead of my usual gold (!) with these amazing ear jackets and ring from Theodosia. And last but not least, my trusty stack of B&B bangles – hey, I had to sneak a little gold in there.

This is what I’ll be rocking this Thursday – what outfits do y’all usually wear on Thanksgiving to balance comfy and chic?

City Girl

IMG_6387

To totally switch gears from my last post, here’s a little explosion of color and patterns to brighten up your Tuesday! One of my first days in the city, I went shopping (duh) and this midi skirt was the first thing I bought. I laid eyes on it from across the room at H&M, tried it on in the middle of the store over all my clothes, and the rest was history. I know dressing in all black is like a thing in the city, but I just couldn’t resist this colorful mismatched ensemble. Sue me, y’all.

IMG_6378

IMG_6384

IMG_6397

When it came to styling this skirt, I¬†immediately knew I wanted a striped crop top to wear with it. You would think in NYC it would be really easy to find something so simple, but nope, not so much. It actually wasn’t¬†until I stumbled upon a little boutique in Williamsburg¬†that I found the perfect top. (Thanks¬†Pema New York!) Seriously if you’re ever in the neighborhood (or even if you’re not), you gotta make a pit stop there. For the rest of my look, I went with simple white heels, a bright coral bag for one last pop of color, and my mirrored tortoise sunnies.

IMG_6415

IMG_6392

IMG_6410

IMG_6395

As for accessories, I went glam with these fab iridescent Moon & Lola earrings, but kept the rest minimal with just a few gold rings and no bracelets (!!). To top it all off, I opted for bright red nails (Big Apple Red, of course) and coral lips. Sometimes you just gotta go matchy-matchy with your lips, nails, and bag – aka it was a total accident/coincidence, but it kinda works, right?

I’ll leave y’all with a fake ~hailing a cab~ photo to celebrate the fact that I became a pro at it. It’s those small victories, ya know? Miss you already, NYC!

Cool Colorblocking

Okay, is anyone else a serious slave to Loft?! It’s the weirdest thing, guys – every time I go in the store, my last paycheck disappears. On (one of) my last excursions to my local Loft, this dainty little dress¬†was calling my name. I love the contrast of the dark gray with the pale lavender, the midi length, and the flowing material of the skirt. It’s just so feminine and chic, not to mention comfortable! Loft, you’ve done it again.

Styling this frock was pretty much foolproof. Simple accessories, a little bit of gold, and a pop of leopard Рand I was good to go. As you probably know by now, my Clare V. clutch goes with pretty much everything (or at least I make it go with everything), and this dress was no exception. I just love how all these colors and textures go together! To tie together the neutral tan hues in the clutch, I finished off the look with my go-to wedges. Last but not least, simple gold jewelry, a statement necklace with peach, gray and lavender hues, and simple black aviators. The sweet jewelry adds to the pretty vibe of the outfit, and the aviators kind of offset it a bit and add to the coolness.

Finishing touches: a loose low bun, subtle nude lips, and soft pink nails. Perfect for a romantic date night out, drinks with girlfriends, or even from work to happy hour. OR a baby shower, which is where I actually wore this, lolz.

Bon Voyage!

Smithphotos+ink-26

Time for some exciting news, y’all. Next week, I’m leaving for New York City – for the entire¬†MONTH¬†of August! I’m so so excited and I would love to hear any suggestions of things to do, eat, and see while I’m there.

I decided to post this special announcement with my go-to airport outfit that has been on repeat this summer. I know¬†it’s a little more fitting for a flight to the beach than NYC – but I live at the beach so you guys can just deal with it, k? Take a look at this chic yet comfy look below!

Smithphotos+ink-27

Smithphotos+ink-24

Smithphotos+ink-29

When it comes to traveling, I’m all about a nice stretchy pair of distressed jeans. These Old Navy ones were super affordable, so I’m not worried about messing them up during my travels. Next, I usually go with a loose, flowy top. This blue and white striped one from Loft is perfect! It’s light enough to wear when it’s 10000 degrees when I’m leaving Charleston, but also keeps me warm on the chilly plane ride.

Smithphotos+ink-32

Smithphotos+ink-35

Smithphotos+ink-36

Next on the list: easy sandals, a good hat (now I¬†don’t have to worry about it getting smushed in my¬†suitcase!), and¬†a sturdy tote. I’m a huge fan of Madewell’s transport tote – it can hold so much and it’s durable AF but super soft. As for accessories – just some fun sunnies, minimal jewels, and my watch so I don’t miss my flight! Last but not least, my secret weapon to combat those¬†early flight induced dark circles – bright pink lipstick. And a little coffee doesn’t hurt, either.

Smithphotos+ink-23

See you in a few weeks, Charleston!

#SBScon Day 2: Rompin’ Around

wrist

Day 2 of #SBScon involved a few presentations from some impressive creatives, a good amount of note-taking, and lots of networking with fabulous brands. After that we were free to play, so I wanted my outfit to be a pretty versatile. I decided to go with this colorful romper (again from the rockstars at Lily Rain), and topped it off with a white blazer for a more professional look. Best part? It was SO comfy! Check out some details below.

I accessorized with simple white heels (which are such a great dupe of these btw), my go-to Clare V. clutch, and these amazing reflective tortoiseshell keyhole sunnies (that are now majorly on sale!). For my jewelry, Moon & Lola hooked me up with these fabulous drop earrings, and I finished off the look with gold bangles and a few midi rings.

California Dreaming

IMG_5246

I know, I know. This isn’t in California. I understand geography (sometimes) and understand that South Carolina is on the opposite end of the country, but I did say “dreaming” so lay off, man! Although I’m an east coast girl, this laid-back look just screams SoCal to me.¬†When I saw this shirt at Teal, I knew I had to have it. I’m already a sucker for plaid but this top has a fun palm tree print on the back, bringing a whole new meaning to “business in the front, party in the back.” Now are you getting the Cali vibes?

IMG_5255

IMG_5248

IMG_5262

Y’all know how much I love print mixing, so having it on the same piece made my heart explode. Because this top already has a little bit going on, I paired it with¬†some distressed boyfriend jeans. I got these babies¬†on super-sale at Loft (if you’ve never tried Loft jeans, do so immediately) and the price made me feel okay taking scissors to them. They already came a little distressed, but I destroyed the knees and cut off the bottoms to better fit the world’s shortest legs. Gotta love the raw hem trend, amirite short ladies? Ain’t nobody got time to go to the tailor.

IMG_5265

IMG_5256

IMG_5237

As usual, I probably had a little too much fun with accessories. I recently found these fab mirrored sunnies at Forever 21 for only FIVE BUCKS (!!!) and they seemed like a no-brainer for this breezy, beachy look. Also on repeat, my dainty¬†gold¬†initial necklace courtesy of Maya Brenner Designs. Ever since this pretty little piece arrived in my mailbox, I haven’t taken it off! It’s perfect for layering with my other necklaces and I absolutely love that the tiny¬†C is off-center. Obsessed!¬†As for the rest of my jewelry, I went with my shark tooth studs (because duh), my go-to arrow ring, stacks on stacks on stacks of bracelets, and this gold Gorjana cuff bracelet from Rocksbox¬†that I refuse to give back. Speaking of which,¬†if you’re thinking about trying the Netflix of jewelry, feel free to use my promo¬†code “chloexoxo”¬†for your first month free!

IMG_5244

Since quite a few¬†aspects of my outfit had a lot going on, I balanced things out with a white quilted crossbody bag and simple¬†white chucks. I went back and forth between my chucks and gold metallic slides, but finally chose the former to keep up the cool vibe and polish things off with crisp white pieces. What do y’all think?
