A Very Velvet New Year’s Eve: Two Ways

For the past few months, I’ve been on the hunt for an emerald green velvet slip dress (not specific at all, right?!), and finally found one just in time to watch the ball drop. Since the slip dress trend is so easy to style and dress up or down, I decided to do just that for a special NYE two ways post!

For the casual look, I went for the Cher Horowitz inspired layering trend that has ruled 2016. I topped it off with two more huge pieces from this year – a choker and Adidas Superstars. Because why wouldn’t I go full 90s to ring in the new year?

To dress up this velvet slip, I slipped on a faux fur coat, some lace-up heels (with tassels!), a lariat necklace, and an envelope clutch. For the finishing touch, I added a dark lip for a little drama.

Ringing It In: Two Ways

What’s better than sparkly sequins on New Years Eve? Adding feathers into the mix. Today I’m showing off two pieces from Tres Carmen with my two favorite NYE embellishments, sequins and feathers, with both a casual and a dressy look. Enjoy!

Y’all, I am totally smitten with this sequin top. The sequins, the blush tones, the little feather peplum – swoon! Although it could be easily dressed up, I opted for winter white skinnies for a more casual New Year’s Eve outfit.

To accessorize, I went with nude heels, pretty gold jewels (including this truly fab elephant looking glass necklace from Candy Shop Vintage), and a reversible (!) Taxidermy antler box. To jazz things up a little bit – it is NYE, after all – I chose a vampy dark lip and shiny gold nails.

Using sequins and feathers in a totally different way, I went a little dressier with this fancy frock from Tres Carmen. How amazing are those blush and black feathers?!

When it came to accessories, sometimes you’ve just gotta go all black. I topped off the outfit with simple heels, a Taxidermy clutch (with optional chain strap!), and slung on a leather moto jacket to edge it up a bit. Last but not least, a swipe of nude lipstick.

What to Wear on New Years Eve

Still racking your brain for what to wear for New Years Eve tonight? Take a look at my picks below.

Trendy & Fun
Two words: sequin joggers. Comfy yet chic, these babies are the perfect sparkly piece for your NYE outfit. Keep the rest of the outfit simple with a classic white tank, tailored blazer, and black pumps. Jazz it up some more with a fringe clutch, these fab statement earrings with a pop of neon, a spike ring, and neon pink lips. And because you have to know when the clock is about to strike twelve, throw on this gold Kate Spade watch.

Classic & Girlie
Feathers are going to be huge this New Years, and this Cynthia Rowley feather skirt makes my heart go pitter pat. Pair with a bow tie blouse, black booties, a gold glitter clutch, these fun earrings with a burst of cobalt, and a gold pave ring. To top it off, swipe on a pinky nude lipstick and go with a deep purple mani. Good to go!

Edgy & Sexy
Going for more of an edgy look for the most overrated holiday ever? Go for this sexy lace number from For Love and Lemons. Accessorize with nude pumps (bonus points for studs), a brightly colored clutch like the mermaid-inspired one above, some spike earrings, and that killer double ring. Top it off with some dark lips and black nails, and you’re ready to take on 2015 in style.
