Bye Bye Summer

Nothing like bidding summer adieu in a little white dress! This cold shoulder eyelet number with delicate floral details has been a favorite all season, so it felt like the perfect piece to wear for LDW before it goes into hibernation for the cooler months.

For the rest of this look, I went full-on SUMMER. Panama hat, Cult Gaia bag, espadrilles, navy tassel earrings – the works. Gotta make good use of them before fall hits!

Hope everyone has a happy Labor Day!

Summer Lovin’

Well hello, all my favorite seasonal pieces in one outfit! Who knew summer lovin’ also applied to clothes? I’ve been a serious outfit repeater with all these items separately, so it only made sense to compile a look with all of them, right? This pineapple top finally went on sale at J. Crew so I scooped that up a few weeks ago, and have been wearing it for both work and play ever since. I love that it can be worn on or off the shoulder – perfect for day-to-night. I paired it with my favorite jeans of the spring/summer(/maybe ever?!) and these sweet pearl sandals that have been making the blogger rounds for the last few months. Turns out the hype is real, though – they are SO comfy and go with everything.

As for accessories, my Cult Gaia bag has been one of my top purchases of the season. Not only do I get compliments on it wherever I go, but my favorite part is that so many sweet older ladies will come up to me and tell me that these types of bags were super popular when they were young! That makes it feel even more special and unique (even though everyone and their mother has it, but whatever guys). To finish off the look, I opted for my Karen Walker shades, navy tassel earrings, dainty bangles, and another fave repeat offender – my mood ring. I don’t know why I ever stopped wearing one because they are so much fun and make me feel like I’m 12 again. Plus, the colors are all really pretty (unless I’m stressed and it turns black). #y2kproblems

Leopard Love

If there’s ever been a piece that perfectly transitions from work to happy hour, it’s these flippin’ pants, y’all. And best of all? They feel like PJs! I gazed at these babies all spring trying to decide if I really needed them, but then they finally went on sale (and it turns out, yes, I definitely needed them).

Since the pants are enough of a statement by themselves, I kept the rest of the outfit pretty simple. A white tank, a neutral bag and shoes, and a denim jacket was all this look needed to let my party pants shine. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding in a couple fun details – the embroidery on my bag, ball drop earrings, and rose gold mirrored sunglasses.

Olive Ruffles

Although generally considered a fall favorite, olive has recently proven to be one of my favorite colors for summer. This off the shoulder top came in three colors: black, white, and this soft green hue. Usually I always go straight for black or white, but I had to make an exception for this little gem!

Aside from the color, I love how this top has some really fun components – bell sleeves, ruffle details, and even a ~flirty~ split back. It’s such a perfect piece for the season! On chillier nights (like this week, which has gotten down to the upper 50s/lower 60s!), I’ll pair it with a distressed raw-hem skinny jean, but on hot summer days, white cutoffs give this shirt a totally different vibe. I love how it can go from sophisticated and chic to fun and low key just by switching out the bottoms!

As for the rest of the look, I went with big sunnies, simple sandals, fun earrings, and a pop of leopard (duh). Holiday weekend, here I come!

Bows + Bodysuits

This bodysuit, you guys. I think I’m in love. For some reason I’ve never been a big¬†bodysuit wearer (perhaps because I haven’t had the right jeans for them, but more on that later), however¬†that instantly changed when I found this fun little piece. It’s incredibly comfortable, flattering, and the low/bow back is¬†just too good. It was perfect for my birthday brunch a couple weeks ago, and I’m looking forward¬†to wearing it on cool summer nights all season long.

For this look, I knew I needed some distressed high-waisted jeans that weren’t too light, weren’t too dark – and they had to be Levi’s. This pair from Shopbop met all my requirements and then some. These have been on maj repeat this spring, and I’ve been getting so many compliments on them!¬†As for the rest of the outfit, I went with lace up heels, my embroidered crossbody, go-to gold jewels, and some party girl earrings. Y’all know I can’t resist a little bit of color!

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Well, it only took us until the middle of May to get rid of the “April” showers and finally bring some spring! What better way to ring in the warmer weather than a trip to a tulip farm? I headed out to Burnside Farms¬†(yep, same as the sunflower farm you saw¬†here!) to pick some fresh blooms and have a little picnic with my pals. Okay, so maybe we just went to the hot dog stand – but we ate them at a picnic table so that’s the same, right?

For my frolic in the flower fields, I went with a white dress with some colorful floral embroidery (never one to stray away from situational dressing). Like many other bloggers/everyone on your insta feed, I too fell in love with the very similar Free People frock – but I wanted the embroidery color from the black dress put on the white dress! Leave it to one of my favorite boutiques,¬†Tres Carmen, to carry an almost-identical dress with my dream color combo – and at half the price! To accessorize, I opted for these comfy espadrilles (a crazy-good dupe for the¬†Marc Fisher¬†ones), giant tassel earrings, round sunnies, and some delicate gold jewelry. And of course, a sweet little basket to carry my blossoms ‚̧

Hope you all are enjoying some beautiful spring weather!

My Go-To Summer Style

During the summer, I want to be comfortable yet chic while also trying to stay cool — a challenging task in¬†steamy Charleston. It’s also crucial to curate outfits that can easily transition from work (since I’m officially old and don’t have summer vacations anymore) to happy hour and beyond. I’ve noticed a pattern in my summer wardrobe selections that I’ve decided is my “go-to summer style” — meaning¬†I pretty much wear different variations of the same outfit every day. This outfit combination, or algorithm if you will (#math), creates a quick & easy outfit every time.

I start out with a comfy¬†maxi dress (bonus points if it’s printed), then throw on a chambray shirt for the work day. To finish off the look, I slip on some wedges or flats, my go-to jewelry, simple sunglasses, and a classic clutch or crossbody bag. In this example, I chose a colorful patterned¬†maxi, a tied chambray top, tan wedges, gold jewelry, aviators, and my trusty gold clutch. For a little bit of a fun edge, I went with my shark tooth studs, green mirrored aviators, and lavender nails. Lastly, I did a quick dutch braid to keep my hair out of my face which spiced up the look even more. Check out my summer style below!IMG_4917
